A basic electrical transformer is used in many applications which also includes your heating system and it transforms household electrical current usually from a higher voltage to a lower voltage. Heating and cooling transformers may have specific specs so make sure you meet the necessary voltage readings. If you need a transformer, be sure to purchase a transformer that is correctly rated for the correct voltage that will be needed by the system.
Symptoms to watch for in a failing electrical transformer
- Zero power measured from a main transformer whatsoever
- Inexact volts is calculated from the output of the chief transformer
- The volt dropping transformer looks like it is ready to fall apart or may smell burnt when being used
