A blower wheel is attached to the blower motor and is traditionally used to provide forced air through a dwelling. It is sometimes referred to as a squirrel cage because of the obvious alikeness of an oversized wheel a hamster might run on. Whatever you want to call it, it is definitely an important aspect of any system that needs proper air pressure within the ductwork.
Major warnings that the main blower wheel is not going to last much longer
- Clanking sound heard as your blower begins
- If a part of the cage has been damaged and it does not spin correctly
- You observe less than usual air going through the ducts
