The heat element causes cold air to be heated before the blower has it dispersed through the ducts. Your furnace cannot produce any heat for the house if your heating element does not work.
Clues of a bad primary heating element
- No heat is being generated by the main system whatsoever
- The heating element itself seems to be old, charred and in dire need of replacing
- The element itself will not heat up whatsoever any longer
