The defrost sensor board will begin the defrost sequence which assists to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The control board is relayed information from a sensor located in the outdoor unit to verify when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Cues of a poorly performing AC defrost sensor board
- Self defrost sequence refuses to initiate even though there is quite a bit frost on the outdoor unit
- The main board may throw a particular error code produced when the defrost control board fails to receive a signal
- The AC may stop operating for the simple fact of the safety issue that the frost poses
