The defrost sensor control board is jobbed with determining when to begin the defrost sequence which may be needed in order to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The defrost board relies on a defrost sensor located near the condenser to determine when the defrost cycle should begin.
Red flags the defrost sensor board needs to be replaced
- Defrost session does not run especially when there is a rather large amount of frost on the outdoor unit
- The control board could throw an error of some type when encountering a problem
- The system will end up not running for the fact of frost blocking the airflow outside
