The flame sensor is a very important part of the safety feature set that senses the proper flame while the system is starting. As with any other safety sensor, if the flame sensor gets set off the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the main issue is remedied.
Signals your safety flame sensor should be replaced
- The furnace cannot ramp up no matter what
- The furnace will sometimes work infrequently at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The gas that has entered the furnace refuses to properly ignite and the system throws an error code
