The limit switch has a sensor located in the furnace that decides when the air is warm enough to activate the main blower. Limit switches exist due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool then you will never get hot air through the ducts.
Clues of a dying limit switch
- The whole system starts to shut down unexpectedly more often than not
- The heating and AC system will not begin or continue to run longer than 30 seconds
