The defrost control board instructs the outdoor unit to begin the defrosting phase which actually helps to remove frost build-up that may accumulate. It relies on a defrost sensor located near the condenser to agree when the defrost cycle should begin.
What signals that my defrost board has to be replaced?
- The defrost feature never runs even though there is excessive frost that has built up
- The AC may not run due to the fact that there is too much frost
- The primary control board may issue an alphanumeric error code when the defrost board fails
