The air filter has a main job of trapping really small dust parts and other small elements from the air in the house. This filtering system will help protect the unit and make it operate much more efficient while also cleaning the air breathe in and out everyday. Because of the nature of filtering air, the unit filter must be simply replaced or perhaps washed at least twice a year if not more, in order to keep things clean.
Red flags your filter will need replacing
- If you lift the air filter up to a source of bright light, the light will almost not shine through the air filter
- It is advised to replace the filter four times a year in order to have cleaner breathable air inside
- The main filter looks gray or brown and probably should be replaced ASAP
