The unit filter has a main job of filtering tiny dust fragments and other miniscule particles from the inside air inside the home. This helps protect the unit and make it operate much more efficient while, at the same time, filtering the dust out of the air you breathe all day. Because of the nature of filtering air, the unit filter must be replaced or possible scrubbed clean a few times a year depending on how much you use it.
