The defrost sensor board instructs the outdoor unit to begin the defrosting phase in order to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The board is relayed information from a temperature sensor located in the outdoor unit to make the decision on when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
General warnings of a failing AC defrost sensor board
- The control board could throw an error code when the defrost board fails
- Defrosting never starts even though there is quite a bit frost that needs to be removed
- Air conditioning may not work for the simple fact of the safety features installed
