The defrost control board will determine when to initiate the defrosting phase which actually helps to defrost your outdoor unit. The defrost board looks to a temperature sensor located near the condenser to determine when to initiate the defrosting cycle.

- Unit defrost session never initiates especially when there is frost built up
- Air conditioning may not operate due in part to the amount of frost on the outdoor unit
- The main control board might issue a particular error code if the defrost board fails
