Trane PTED070 Defrost Sensor Board
The defrost control board instructs the system to activate the defrosting phase which may be necessary to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The defrost board relies on a sensor located in the outdoor unit to decide when to begin.
Some warnings of an unhealthy Trane defrost sensor board
- Your HVAC system will not operate at all because of the amount of frost on the outdoor unit
- The defrost sequence refuses to run even though there is quite a bit frost on the outdoor unit
- The HVAC system control board may issue an error number produced by a bad defrost control board
