Trane PTED090 Flame Sensor
The flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that can reliably detect the appropriate flame when the system starts. As with most safety features, if the sensor produces an error the furnace will not start until the problem is fixed.
Some clues to watch for in a failing flame sensor
- The furnace works sporadically when it thinks it should
- The heat system is unwilling to begin operations and shows an error code on the board
- LP or natural gas refuses to ignite and shuts off
