The defrost sensor control board instructs the outdoor unit to begin the defrost sequence which may be needed in order to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The defrost board looks to a defrost sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to verify when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
