The flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that will reliable sense the proper flame while the system is starting. Due to the overall safety issue, when the flame sensor is activated the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the main issue is remedied.
How do you know if your furnace flame sensor is almost dead?
- The main type of gas will not ignite and some type of error flashes on the main board
- Your heating system refuses to start operating and shuts down
