The fan motor on the compressor is primarily in charge of cooling the outdoor compressor, when heat is removed from the house, that heat that needs to be dispelled into the air. Please make sure you find one with the correct voltage listed and the precise amperage as on the current fan motor. It can be replaced by itself without the fan blade, this makes replacing it a lot easier to do and reduce the price overall.

- An unpleasant rubbing noise while the cooling fan is turning
