The defrost sensor control board instructs the system to activate the defrost cycle which may be needed in order to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The defrost board is relayed information from a specific sensor located somewhere by the condenser to determine when to begin.
Some clues of a dying defrost sensor board
- Unit defrost session never initiates even though there is a lot of frost that makes the unit run like crap
- The HVAC system control board might issue a type of error code produced by a bad defrost control board
- The whole system may stop operating because of frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
