The defrost control board determines when or if to start the defrost cycle if necessary, to rid your unit of frost that can build up. The control board is relayed information from a temperature sensor located in the outdoor unit to decide when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Major signs your outdoor defrost sensor board is going to die
- Unit defrost session will not initiate despite that there is a large amount frost built up
- Your main control board could throw an error code referring to a failing defrost control board
- The AC may cease to operate due in part to frost blocking the airflow outside
