The defrost control board determines when to initiate the defrost sequence in order to keep your outdoor unit from plugging up. The board looks to a defrost sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to make the decision on when the defrost cycle should begin.
How do you know when your defrost board is on its last leg?
- The system will cease to operate due to frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
- Your main control board might issue a type of error code produced when the defrost control board fails to receive a signal
- The defrost feature does not begin especially when there is a rather large amount of frost in the way
