Pretty much every air conditioning system has an expansion valve that allows the refrigerant to expand into its regular gas state from a high-pressure liquid form. An AC would not yield any cooled air if the valve was not working.
Symptoms of a worsening main expansion valve
- Your AC takes a really long time to comfortably cool as it should
- Cooled air is not as cool as it really should be coming from the AC
