Whirlpool ATE0943CPP0 Thermistor
In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a type of resistor whose resistance fluctuates depending on the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They inform the circuit board when the temperature has been reached. The main control board interprets the temperature throughout the whole system to make a decision on what needs to be done.
Some clues your thermister will need to be replaced
- The AC and heat system may not even start due to any one thermistor that has failed
- The system blower could possibly fail in its attempt to ramp up to full speed
