A very basic thermistor is a type of resistor whose resistance is governed by the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They inform the main board when a certain temperature reaches a certain point. The furnace or AC must know the temp throughout the whole system to do its job correctly.

- Main blower refuses in the attempt to get up to full speed
- No component may not operate depending on which is the improperly set thermistor
