One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is because if the air is too cool inside the furnace to begin with, the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air. A normal limit switch is a type of sensor switch in the air handler that decides if and when the air is warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents.
