The defrost sensor board commences the defrost sequence if necessary, to remove frost build-up that may accumulate. The defrost board is relayed information from a temperature sensor located somewhere by the condenser to ascertain when the defrost cycle should begin.
Major symptoms of an unhealthy AC defrost sensor board
- Unit defrost session has not run for a while even though there is quite a bit frost in the way
- AC and heating system could stop functioning because of lack of airflow through the outdoor unit
- Your main control board could display an error number produced by a bad defrost control board
