Whirlpool ATE1555RPP0 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor is responsible for cooling the compressor, because as the compressor gets hot the heat must be driven away. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced on its own without the blade, this results in a simpler type of replacement and helps you save some money. Just make sure you buy a replacement motor with the correct voltage as well as amperage as on the current fan motor.
General indicators that your the fan motor is going out
- An unpleasant squeaking sound when the cooling fan starts
- The motor starts to smoke or throws sparks as it spins
- The Whirlpool cooling motor tries but fails to turn at all
