A flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that will consistently detect the correct flame when the system starts. As you could guess, when the sensor is triggered by an event the whole system stops until the problem is fixed.
Clues to watch for to know your furnace flame sensor is in need of replacing
- LP or natural gas refuses to ignite and shuts itself off
