A flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that will sense the proper flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As with any other safety sensor, if the flame sensor gets set off the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until that particular problem is fixed.
Major signs your flame sensor should be replaced
- Your
system cannot produce any heat when the thermostat kicks in - HVAC system will sort of operate rarely when the time is right
- The gas that has entered the furnace will not even try to properly ignite and the main board displays on error code
