A flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that senses the precise flame upon ignition. For obvious reasons, if the sensor get triggered everything remains shut off until obstacle is corrected.
Symptoms your safety flame sensor is dead
- Your
system refuses to ramp up and shuts down - The entire heating system will sometimes work intermittently at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The propane or natural gas has problems trying to properly ignite under any circumstance
