The main reason limit switches are made is due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts. A normal limit switch has a sensor in the heat exchanger that can determine if and when the air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents.
