In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a special kind of new age resistor that has a fluctuating resistance that changes as it depends on the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They convey to the main board when the temperature in increasing or decreasing. The main control board takes the temperature in some specific areas of the system to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Red flags your thermister will need to be replaced
- The entire system may not initiate the starting sequence because of the broken thermistor
