A flame sensor is a regulatory sensor that can reliably detect the appropriate flame during ignition. Because of the safety issues involved, if the flame sensor gets set off the furnace will not start until the problem is fixed.

- The whole system operates intermittently but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
