The defrost sensor control board controls when to launch the defrost sequence if necessary, to defrost your outdoor unit. It looks to a temperature sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to ascertain when the defrost cycle should begin.
Hints of a barely functioning defrost board
- The HVAC system control board might give out an error code produced by too much frost
- The system may not work for the simple fact of the frost blocking the flow of air
- Defrost session has not run for a while even though there is a large amount of frost on the external unit
