The limit switch has a sensor in the air handler that senses, or governs, if and when the air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents. Limit switches were created due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts.

- The HVAC system refuses to start or run longer than 30 seconds
