Whirlpool ATR1553RPP0 Limit Switch
The limit switch contains a sensor in the heat exchanger that decides if and when the air is warm enough that it can be circulated throughout the house. One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air.
Simple indications of a defective limit switch
- The HVAC system will not even start nor will it stay running for any length of time
- The whole system is starting to shut down unexpectedly on more than one occasion
