The defrost sensor board determines when to initiate the defrosting phase which may be needed in order to defrost your outdoor unit. The defrost board is relayed information from a sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to ascertain when to begin.
Some clues of a faulty defrost sensor board
- The defrost feature refuses to run even though there is quite a bit frost on the external unit
- The HVAC system could cease to function due in part to lack of airflow through the outdoor unit
- The main control board could throw an alphanumeric error code if the defrost control board fails
