Whynter ARC-131GD Flame Sensor
The flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that can reliably detect the appropriate flame while the system is starting. Because of the safety issues involved, if the sensor produces an error the system remains completely shut down until that particular problem is fixed.
Major clues of a faulty primary flame sensor
- Your furnace cannot ramp up at all
- The furnace will kind of run on certain occasions at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
- The propane or natural gas cannot ignite and the control shows an error
